On April 7, 1968, JAM Transit, Inc. was established by the couple, Artemio and Josefina Mercado from whom the company’s name was derived.
JAM started with only four (4) buses plying the Biñan, Laguna – Plaza Lawton and Manila route.
The company expanded in the nineties by adding more buses and destinations in South Luzon like Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and some parts of the Bicol region.
On April 28, 1989 JAM Liner, Inc. was incorporated and later, together with JAM Transit, Inc., First Charters and Tours Transport Corporation and Penta Transport Services Corporation, they became part of the JAM Group of Companies which is currently under the new ownership and management of Madrid Holdings, Inc.
Now, the JAM Group (with JAM Liner, Inc. as the lead company) boasts of serving 15 million passengers annually or over 41,000 total commuters daily. It serves the same routes within South Luzon such as Laguna, Batangas and Quezon and has a fleet of over 300 buses.
Currently, it has ten (10) terminals which are located at Cubao, Pasay City, Biñan City, Sta. Rosa City, Cabuyao City, Calamba City, Batangas City, Lemery, Lipa City and Lucena City.
It holds office at Kilometer 43 Tagaytay Road, Brgy. Pulong Sta. Cruz, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, 4026.
The group will soon be a major feeder to the first brand-new catamaran-type RoRo vessels being introduced in the Philippines by Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation. Service on these brand-new ferries is slated to begin by mid-2013 and will initially serve the Batangas-Roxas and Roxas-Caticlan routes.
